The Zahra agricultural app in Egypt offers an integrated digital system for farm management and supporting investors and farmers. According to Ahmed ElSayed, CEO of Zahra company, the app draws its information from various sources, including satellite imagery and artificial intelligence.

Speaking to “Food & Climate” on the sidelines of his participation in the Agritech 2026 exhibition and forum, which concluded in Cairo last week, ElSayed stated that his company specializes in agricultural technology solutions.

He explained that the Zahra app utilizes artificial intelligence technologies and satellite imagery to analyze farm data, which helps improve the management of agricultural operations, increase productivity, and optimize resource use.

AI-based technologies contribute to improved efficiency across various sectors and help address challenges facing agricultural activities, such as increasing crop yields, managing irrigation, sensing soil properties, monitoring crops, removing weeds, and improving farming practices.

The agricultural sector faces significant challenges, but artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to provide effective solutions. AI-based technologies have enabled farmers to achieve greater production using fewer resources, while improving the quality of agricultural products and accelerating their delivery to markets, according to a United Nations study.

AI also allows farmers to collect and analyze vast amounts of data from governmental and public sources to provide solutions to many complex problems, as well as to implement smarter irrigation methods that lead to increased productivity.

Future agriculture is expected to become a blend of technological and biological skills, contributing to improved production quality, reduced losses, and a less burden on farmers. The United Nations indicates that two-thirds of the world’s population will live in urban areas by 2050, which increases the need to use AI to automate many agricultural processes, reduce risks, and provide more efficient and accessible means of production.
